FILM & TELEVISION
Okay, so I guess you'll want to know a little about me. Let's start with my background...
I've spent the best part of twenty years in the movie business, working with the likes of George Lucas, Tim Burton, Chris Columbus and Danny Boyle on a range of films that have a combined box office take of nearly five billion dollars.
I've worked on feature films by major Hollywood studios including Warner Brothers, Paramount, 20th Century Fox and United Artists and production/distribution companies Miramax, Lucasfilm and Intermedia.
Such rarely rivalled industry experience has given me a real understanding of what it takes for a film to make it - not to mention the inevitable contacts this brings.
I have also a wealth of experience working on a range of movies and series for television including HBO's Band of Brothers, BBC's State of Play, Channel 4's Longitude; music videos for Jamiroquai, Smashing Pumpkins and B*Witched and commercials for brands such as Discover Card and Coca-Cola.
Following those years working at the coal face of film, learning from some of the masters of cinema, I turned to writing. As a screenwriter I've had my own work optioned numerous times, writing in a variety of genres from sci-fi to spy thriller, from rom-com to period drama.
Among these I've had an original screenplay spend time with 1492 Pictures, the production company of Chris Columbus (The Goonies, Home Alone, Mrs Doubtfire), and developed a scriptment for the 007 series which received the backing of Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough, Gorillas In The Mist, Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) and garnered significant interest from Eon Productions, the makers of the Bond films.
As well as screenplays, I have also written a number of book titles that have been published worldwide. These have covered a diverse range of subjects from serial killers to science, from hostage negotiation to maritime humour. For more detail on my work for the page, do take a look at my Amazon Author Central profile.
In addition, I have been a creative on several corporate writing assignments in the past, writing product launches and pitches for such blue-chip companies as Procter & Gamble, Wrigley, Balfour Beatty and even the British Ministry of Defence.
I've been a dedicated script consultant for over a decade, assisting both aspiring and established industry writers to ensure their work reaches the required level of quality needed to succeed out in the harsh, unforgiving conditions which exist in the (movie) theatre of war we call the film industry.
I also read for a select number of private industry contacts amassed over the years both in the US and the UK to whom I make aware any stand-out and fitting projects - only after obtaining the express permission of the writer, obviously!
I have proven experience in consulting on all genres, have helped to navigate projects from pitch to production, and many of my clients have won or placed highly at major script competitions, had their work optioned, and even debuted at film festivals throughout the world including London, Portobello and Cannes.
